Subject: AIR CONDITIONING NOISE Models: ALL EQUIPPED WITH ROTARY FOUR VANE COMPRESSOR A growling noise may occur when the air conditioning compressor is engaged from idle to approximately 2,000 RPM. To eliminate this condition, five vane compressors have been introduced into series production (with new A/C belts) in place of the previous four vane compressors. The five vane compressor is identified by a Behr (or Bosch) label with a green background. Should customer complaints be encountered for this condition, install a five vane compressor as shown for the applications below along with a new A/C belt. WARRANTY STATUS Reimburseable under the provisions of the BMW 3 Year/36,000 Mile Limited Warranty.
